Football Recap: Weiss Wolves vs. McNeil Mavericks
Weiss had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They slipped by the McNeil Mavericks 42-41 on Thursday.
Nick Johnson had a dynamite game for Weiss, rushing for 202 yards and two touchdowns. The dominant performance gave him a new career- in total yards. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Schad, who threw for 245 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.
McNeil lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jarell Gary Jr, who picked up 56 receiving yards and a touchdown. McNeil also got help from Zach Christie, who showed off his sure hands for 115 receiving yards.
Weiss will head out to challenge San Marcos at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for McNeil, they will venture away from home to take on Lake Belton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
