Basketball Recap: Luke Garrett Key Part of a Team Effort in Blackhawks Win

Cowan lost to Wes-Del back in January of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Cowan Blackhawks came out on top against the Wes-Del Warriors by a score of 60-52. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Blackhawks.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cowan to victory, but perhaps none more so than Luke Garrett, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 19 points and seven boards. Those seven rebounds gave Garrett a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lucas Terrell, who went 5 for 8 en route to 16 points.

When it comes to explaining why Wes-Del lost, don't look at Josiah Love. Despite the final result, he posted 24 points. That was a full 46.2% of Wes-Del's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Durr, who put up six points.

Cowan's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-11. As for Wes-Del, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

Cowan is taking a road trip to take on Wapahani at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Wapahani is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.6 points per game this season. As for Wes-Del, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Eastern at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Wes-Del also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 55.5 points per game.
