Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of JAMEYA BROWN and AIYANNIA BARNES Lead North Marion to Victory

After only 21 points in their last game, North Marion made sure to put some points up on the board against Lake Weir on Tuesday. The Colts were the clear victors by a 58-35 margin over the Hurricanes. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Colts also won the last time the pair played back in February.

Leading North Marion to victory were AIYANNIA BARNES and JAMEYA BROWN. BARNES posted 24 points in addition to six boards and six steals, while BROWN scored 19 points. That's the most steals BARNES has posted since back in December of 2024. KANARA GORDON was another key player, putting up seven points and nine rebounds.

Lake Weir's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dejah Gray, who earned five points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tay'Yari Mathews, who put up four points and eight boards.

North Marion's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Lake Weir, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, North Marion will head out on the road to take on Palatka at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lake Weir, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Crescent City at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
