Baseball Game Preview: Iberia Rangers vs. St. James Tigers

The Iberia Rangers will head out on the road to face off against the St. James Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Iberia will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Iberia's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Richland with a sharp 10-0 win. The Rangers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when St. James took on Union on Thursday. The Tigers took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost six in a row.

St. James saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was JV Meurer, who went 2-for-3 with one double. Max Wilson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Iberia's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for St. James, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.

Iberia took their victory against St. James in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rangers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
