Softball Recap: Spring Valley's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Spring Valley can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They never let the New Auburn Trojans get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory. That five run margin sets a new team best for the Cardinals this season.

The result came thanks to Megan Harvey's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up 15 Ks. Those 15 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Kate Cipriano and Willa Meyer did most of the damage at the plate: Cipriano got on base in two of her three plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs, while Meyer went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave Meyer a new career-high. Ruth Henneman was another key player, earning one run and three stolen bases.

Spring Valley's win bumped their record up to 3-15. As for New Auburn, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

As of now, neither Spring Valley nor the Trojans have any future games scheduled.
