Softball Recap: Digital Harbor Rams vs. City College Black Knights
Digital Harbor was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 27-3 to the City College Black Knights. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Digital Harbor of the 22-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2017.
For City College's part, Alaya Corbin made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Corbin has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive pitching appearances. Corbin was even better at the plate, firing off three triples, seven RBI, and two stolen bases while going 3-for-5.
In other batting news, City College got a massive performance out of Michaela Madison, who scored four runs while going 3-for-3. Lola Debloom was another key contributor, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Digital Harbor's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for City College, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
Digital Harbor is on the road again on Tuesday to play Patterson. Digital Harbor is facing Patterson at the right time seeing as Patterson is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for City College, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Forest Park at 3:45 p.m. City College is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 19.5 runs per game this season.
