Soccer Game Preview: Carl Hayden Community vs. Desert Edge

The Carl Hayden Community Falcons are taking a road trip to square off against the Desert Edge Scorpions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Carl Hayden Community is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 4.4 goals per game this season.

Carl Hayden Community's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Central with a sharp 4-0 victory. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Bobcats are ranked 142nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Carl Hayden Community hit Central with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Anthony Rodriguez (2), Helson Lopez, and Abdoulaye Diop.

Meanwhile, Desert Edge has been on a difficult stretch since their win on the third. They and Paradise Valley finished up their matchup with a 0-0 draw on Wednesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Scorpions as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Carl Hayden Community has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 36 goals over those eight games. Desert Edge's draw gives them a new season record of 7-7-2.
