Softball Recap: Walled Lake Central Takes a Loss

South Lyon hit Walled Lake Central with a four-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Vikings fell just short of the Lions by a score of 5-4. The Vikings have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.

Katelynn Cole spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bella Spellman made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Jessica Fick, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Walled Lake Central's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for South Lyon, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-7.

While Walled Lake Central had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
