Football Recap: Mt. Vernon Takes a Loss

Mt. Vernon lost against Franklin Community back in August of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Marauders lost to the Grizzly Cubs at home by a 27-13 margin.

Franklin Community got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cori Tonte out in front who rushed for 152 yards and three touchdowns. Those 152 rushing yards gave Tonte a new career-high. Another signal caller making a difference was Greyson Betts, who threw for 181 yards and one TD on only ten passes.

Mt. Vernon's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Franklin Community, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Mt. Vernon and Franklin Community will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Marauders will challenge rival Greenfield-Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Franklin Community is set to take on their familiar foe Perry Meridian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
