Basketball Recap: Rock County Christian Skates Past Maranatha Baptist with Ease

Rock County Christian waltzed into their contest on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They breezed by the Maranatha Baptist Crusaders to the tune of 78-44. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 22 points or more this season.

Rock County Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tony Thompson, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 boards. Thompson's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Derek Quinn, who went 9 of 16 en route to 20 points along with five boards and four steals.

Rock County Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Rock County Christian's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2.

Rock County Christian will head out to challenge Early View Academy of Excellence at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Rock County Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests. As for Maranatha Baptist, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Wisconsin School for the Deaf at 7:30 p.m. on January 16, 2025.
