Softball Recap: West Hills Takes a Loss

West Hills had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 10-5-1 to make it four. They lost 10-3 to the Eastlake Titans. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Wolf Pack, who until this matchup were averaging 3.56 runs allowed.

Kristina Deal made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Katy Spargo was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

As for Eastlake, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games.

On Eastlake's side, Camila Castillo looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Castillo has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mackenzie Olshenskie was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bri Ayap, who went 2-for-3 with three runs.

West Hills has already played their next contest, a 5-3 loss against Imperial on the 9th. As for Eastlake, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-1 win against Brawley on the 10th.
