Baseball Recap: Los Osos Takes a Loss

Los Osos fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Rancho Cucamonga on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 3-1. Grizzlies fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Cougars since on Wednesday.

Jordan Mejico was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over 7.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Wyatt Mohler was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

This is the second loss in a row for Los Osos and nudges their season record down to 12-5. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Rancho Cucamonga, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season.

While Los Osos had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
