Recap: Southington Blue Knights vs. Middletown Blue Dragons
The Southington Blue Knights gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 70-46 margin over Middletown. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Southington also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2020.
Southington can attribute much of their success to Lily Cooper, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 assists. Another player making a difference was Katie Doherty, who scored 14 points.
Middletown's loss came despite strong showings from Tessa Porch and Ava Studinski. Porch scored 11 points along with six rebounds, while Studinski scored 15 points. Shalyn Smith was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Even though they lost, Middletown were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southington only racked up 20 assists.
Southington's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Middletown, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-1.
Southington will be home for the holidays to greet Conard at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Middletown, they will head out on the road to face off against Maloney at 6:45 p.m. on Friday.
