Basketball Recap: Riley County Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Eli Harmison and Brett Hopper

On Friday, the Riley County Falcons lost to the Hiawatha Red Hawks on the road by a 73-58 margin. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Riley County's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Brett Hopper, who went 8 of 15 en route to 18 points and six rebounds, and Eli Harmison, who posted 11 points and six boards. Hopper continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Trey Webber was another key player, putting up six points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Riley County was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Riley County's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Hiawatha, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riley County will take on Wabaunsee at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Riley County's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games. As for Hiawatha, they will face off against Holton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
