Soccer Game Preview: Troy vs. Esperanza

The Troy Warriors are taking a road trip to square off against the Esperanza Aztecs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Troy's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

On Wednesday, Troy and Crean Lutheran finished up on equal footing with a 0-0 draw.

Meanwhile, Esperanza came into Friday's matchup having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They played to a draw too, finishing 2-2 against Crean Lutheran. The result was nothing new for the Aztecs as the team haven't won a game since December 23, 2024.

Almicar Zamora and Angel Arredondo scored both of Esperanza's goals, bringing their combined season tally to three goals.

Esperanza's draw makes their record 5-9-4 this season. Meanwhile, Troy's record is now 10-5-5.

Troy came out on top in a nail-biter against Esperanza in their previous meeting two weeks ago, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Troy since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
