Lindbergh and Highline are an even 5-5 against one another since June of 2021, but likely not for long. The Eagles will welcome the Pirates at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lindbergh will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Lindbergh took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Cedarcrest, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Red Wolves on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since March 17th.

Cedarcrest's batters probably weren't too happy with Vincent Campos, who pitched a no hitter (he gave up two walks). Campos also allowed no hits, which is notable because Lindbergh is 4-1 when he allows at most three hits, but 5-6 otherwise.
At the plate, Lindbergh's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Uriel Espinal, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base. Levi Emerson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Highline got the win against Foster on Wednesday by a conclusive 12-2.
Josiah JoJo Barron made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
In other batting news, Highline got a massive performance out of Rodrigo Pena, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Those two hits gave Pena a new career-high. Roman Easter was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Highline always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Foster only posted an OBP of .391.
Lindbergh's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-7. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Highline, their win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-12.
Lindbergh came out on top in a nail-biter against Highline when the teams last played back in March, sneaking past 7-6. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pirates turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
