Basketball Game Preview: Trinity Pioneers vs. Merrimack Tomahawks

Trinity and Merrimack are an even 3-3 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Trinity Pioneers will challenge the Merrimack Tomahawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Trinity knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Merrimack likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, Trinity strolled past Spaulding with points to spare, taking the game 68-54. Given the Pioneers' advantage in MaxPreps' New Hampshire basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while the Red Raiders are ranked 74th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Merrimack ended up a good deal behind Portsmouth on Tuesday and lost 58-39. The defeat continues a trend for the Tomahawks in their matchups with the Clippers: they've now lost three in a row.

Trinity's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Merrimack, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Trinity strolled past Merrimack in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a score of 66-52. Will Trinity repeat their success, or does Merrimack have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
