Baseball Game Preview: Sunrise Mountain Miners vs. Pahrump Valley Trojans

For the second straight game, Sunrise Mountain will face off against Pahrump Valley. The Miners will be playing at home against the Trojans at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sunrise Mountain is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

Sunrise Mountain fell victim to Pahrump Valley and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 7-0 to the Trojans.

For Pahrump Valley's part, Vinny Whitney made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave Whitney a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Tony Whitney was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Andrew Zurn, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Pahrump Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sunrise Mountain only posted a batting average of .261.

Pahrump Valley's win bumped their record up to 13-5-1. As for Sunrise Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
