Basketball Recap: Gilbert Victorious

Gilbert hadn't done well against Airport recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Indians managed a 39-33 win over the Eagles. For the Indians, this counts as revenge for the 43-32 victory the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2025.

Gilbert found their leader in sophomore Blythe Price, who almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. Zamaya Gary was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

The win got Gilbert back to even at 7-7. As for Airport, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.

Looking ahead, Gilbert will venture away from home to face off against Gray Collegiate Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The War Eagles will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Indians surely won't give up without a fight. As for Airport, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Brookland-Cayce at 6:00 p.m. The Eagles will be up against the Bearcats' rather soft defense (which has allowed 51.75 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
