Volleyball Game Preview: Del Norte Tigers vs. Trinidad Miners + How To Watch

Del Norte is a perfect 5-0 against Trinidad since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Tigers will challenge the Miners at 1:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Del Norte is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Buena Vista just ended the team's five-match winning streak on Thursday. They fell 3-1 to the Demons. Surprisingly, this marked the Tigers' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

While Del Norte ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 23-25, 25-20, 25-22.

Del Norte's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Emma Parra, who had 20 digs, 11 kills, and one block, and Brynley Brown, who had 16 digs and eight kills. Brown has been hot, having posted five or more kills the last six times she's played. Julia Trujillo was another key player, getting 18 digs.

Meanwhile, Trinidad lost 3-0 to Center on Wednesday. The loss continues a trend for the Miners in their meetings with the Vikings: they've now lost six in a row.

Trinidad's defeat dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Del Norte, they suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 8-5.

Del Norte took their victory against Trinidad in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
