Volleyball Game Preview: Gilman Pirates vs. Solon Springs Eagles

The Gilman Pirates will be taking part in a tournament against the Solon Springs Eagles at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

On Thursday, Gilman came up short against Colby and fell 3-1. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

The 3-1 doesn't really show just how close this match was: all the sets Gilman lost were decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-23, 21-25, 25-22.

Meanwhile, Solon Springs didn't have quite enough to beat Mellen on Thursday and fell 3-2. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Granite Diggers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Solon Springs took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 25-27, 25-15, 24-26, 25-16, 15-7.

Gilman's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Solon Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.

Gilman beat Solon Springs 2-0 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Do the Pirates have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
