Softball Recap: Alleghany Takes a Loss

Alleghany was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the South Stokes Sauras, falling 23-2. The Trojans were not able to make up for their loss to the Sauras from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Ellie Crouse was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Gracie Keith also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Alleghany's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for South Stokes, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Alleghany will square off against East Surry at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Alleghany has given up an average of 19.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for South Stokes, they will challenge West Stokes at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
