Baseball Recap: Juniata Valley Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Juniata Valley waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Southern Huntingdon County Rockets by a score of 9-6. This was payback for the Hornets, who suffered a 7-5 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Elijah Johns made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Robert Hess, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyler Spurlin, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
