Softball Recap: St. Pius X Drops Season-High Score on Los Alamos

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Pius X). Everything went their way against the Los Alamos Hilltoppers on Saturday as St. Pius X made off with a 19-9 win. The Sartans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Hilltoppers, too.

Lilee Zarate was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Zarate was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, St. Pius X got a big performance out of Jordyn Caintic, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Davianna Romero was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

St. Pius X hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 5-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

St. Pius X's victory bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Los Alamos, they dropped their record down to 4-3 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Pius X will square off against Albuquerque at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Los Alamos, they will host Santa Fe at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
