Cheyenne Mountain and Sierra are an even 3-3 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Cheyenne Mountain will be strutting in after a victory while Sierra will be coming in after a defeat.
Sierra is hoping to do what Coronado couldn't last Friday: put an end to Cheyenne Mountain's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Cheyenne Mountain enjoyed a cozy 43-27 win over Coronado.

Cheyenne Mountain got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Emily Judi out in front who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards. Judi has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maya Stepan, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
Cheyenne Mountain smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 73-37, which was the final score in Sierra's tilt against Pueblo East two weeks ago.
Cheyenne Mountain will have to contain Deja Burns as she made an impact in Sierra's last game. She dropped a double-double on 22 points and 17 rebounds.
Cheyenne Mountain pushed their record up to 3-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.7 points per game. As for Sierra, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Cheyenne Mountain has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 33.7 boards per game. However, it's not like Sierra struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.3 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Cheyenne Mountain beat Sierra 44-33 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Sierra's Shetara Roebuck, who went 6 of 12 on her way to 20 points and five steals. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Cheyenne Mountain still be able to contain Roebuck? There's only one way to find out.
