Basketball Recap: Kendall Allen's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Coleman over Lake City

On Monday, the Coleman Comets came up short against the Lake City Trojans and fell 52-43. While the Comets didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Trojans 19-13 in the first quarter.

Several Comets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kendall Allen, who posted 20 points. Those 20 points gave Allen a new career-high. Emily VanSickle was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to 15 rebounds and five assists.

Coleman has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 15 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-18 record this season. Lake City's victory ended a nine-game drought on the road and puts them at 1-19.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Coleman will challenge Vestaburg at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lake City, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Kalkaska at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake City is facing Kalkaska at the right time seeing as Kalkaska is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
