Basketball Recap: Western Plains Bobcats vs. Logan Trojans
The Western Plains Bobcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 12th straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 54-36 to Logan. Western Plains was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Western Plains saw an underclassman step up: Madelyn Kraus scored 25 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That was a full 69.4% of Western Plains' points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jaelyn Spangler was another key contributor, scoring three points along with ten assists.
Western Plains dropped their record down to 1-12 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.6 points per game. As for Logan, the win (which was their third in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 1-0.
Western Plains won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Coyotes at 11:00 a.m. on February 3rd. Logan will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on the Ringnecks at 6:00 p.m. on February 13th.
