Softball Preview: New Holstein Huskies vs. Mishicot Indians

New Holstein has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Mishicot Indians at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Saturday, New Holstein narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Valders 2-1.

Natalie Ziebell made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over nine innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Ziebell has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive pitching appearances. Ziebell was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Ziebell wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Makayla Meyer, who went 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Meanwhile, Mishicot put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victor by a 10-0 margin over Brillion. Mishicot might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won 20 contests by six runs or more this season.

Like New Holstein, Mishicot also got a great game from a two-way player: Kiran Sanford. She didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Sanford was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBI.

In other batting news, Karsyn Krause was a standout: she scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Kasey Brouchoud, who went 1-for-2 with a home run and two RBI.
