Basketball Recap: Addie Wilhoit's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Tennessee over Morristown-Hamblen East

Tennessee has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They received a blow on Tuesday as they fell 55-39 to the Morristown-Hamblen East Hurricanes. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 76-52 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.

Tennessee's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addie Wilhoit, who posted 13 points and five boards. Wilhoit is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Jenna Latham was another key player, going 5-for-9 en route to 14 points.

Morristown-Hamblen East's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hannah Hall led the charge by almost dropping a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Hall a new career-high in assists (seven). Another player making a difference was Molli Stuffle, who shot 44% from the field to rack up 21 points.

Tennessee's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Morristown-Hamblen East, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Tennessee will take on Volunteer in a tournament on Thursday. The Vikings will be up against the Falcons' rather soft defense (which has allowed 50.42 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Morristown-Hamblen East, they will be taking part in a tournament against Abingdon at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
