Softball Recap: Wauconda Drops Highest Score of Season Against Round Lake

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wauconda). They put the hurt on the Round Lake Panthers with a sharp 25-7 victory on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

The team relied heavily on Ellary Nick, who went 4-for-5 with five runs, six RBI, and two doubles. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. Samantha Saldana also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Wauconda was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Round Lake only posted a batting average of .176.

Wauconda's victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-22. As for Round Lake, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wauconda will square off against Lake Zurich at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Round Lake, they will face off against Woodstock at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
