Football Recap: Elite Comes Up Short

Elite played a tough match on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Vallejo Redhawks and fell 35-6. The Eagles gained 63 more yards on the day, but it was the Redhawks that made the best use of them.

Elite didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Carter King and Tashan Williams, who each picked up one interception apiece. Another thorn in Vallejo's side was Ayden Isom, who made 12 total tackles.

Vallejo's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carlisto Valetino, who rushed for 80 yards and two scores on only nine carries. Valetino got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 55 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Julio Ramirez, who threw for 177 yards and three touchdowns.

Elite's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Vallejo, their win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1.

Coming up, Elite will face off against Rio Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Eagles' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Vallejo, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Washington at 7:15 p.m. on the 26th.
