Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Mankato West

Mankato West waltzed into their contest on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Marshall Tigers. The Scarlets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by seven runs or more this season.

Cora Aanenson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Lilly Considine was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Riley Fitzloff, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Mankato West kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive matchups.

Mankato West's win bumped their record up to 16-5. As for Marshall, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-14.

As of now, neither Mankato West nor the Tigers have any future games scheduled.
