Volleyball Recap: Boerne-Champion Extends Winning Streak to Six

Boerne-Champion waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Boerne Greyhounds. This was a revenge game for the Chargers: when they faced off against the Greyhounds back in September, they had to take a 3-1 loss.

Boerne-Champion wouldn't go down easily and took Boerne into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-21, 25-17, 21-25, 22-20.

Cassidy Breuer paced Boerne-Champion's offense, picking up 21 kills. Breuer got some help from Brady Cooksey and her 47 assists. Breuer was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Despite the defeat, Boerne saw an underclassman step up: freshman Cameron Keller had 21 assists and five digs. Keller is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 12 or more in each of the last eight games she's played.

Boerne-Champion's victory bumped their record up to 25-5. As for Boerne, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 19-15.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Boerne-Champion is set to square off against their familiar foe Pieper at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Boerne will challenge rival Alamo Heights at 5:15 p.m. on Friday.
