Baseball Game Preview: Gonzales Apaches vs. John F. Kennedy Rockets

The Gonzales Apaches will face off against the John F. Kennedy Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gonzales is looking for their season's first victory.

Gonzales lost 13-7 to La Vernia on Tuesday.

Gonzales saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colt Robinson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI. D Navejar was another, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.

Meanwhile, John F. Kennedy got themselves on the board against San Antonio Memorial on Tuesday, but San Antonio Memorial never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over the Minutemen. The Rockets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

MAX GARZA was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because John F. Kennedy is 4-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 4-8 otherwise. GARZA was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, JORGE PINA was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. He has become a key player for John F. Kennedy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was MARKY HERNANDEZ, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

John F. Kennedy's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-10. As for Gonzales, their loss dropped their record down to 0-17-1.

Gonzales might still be hurting after the 8-2 defeat they got from John F. Kennedy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Apaches avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
