Baseball Recap: Damien Triumphs

Damien lost to Chino Hills back in April of 2025, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Spartans came out on top against the Huskies by a score of 6-3. The game was the first time the Spartans have beaten the Huskies on their field since March 18, 2024.

Ryan Wentworth tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Damien is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 8-10-1 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Elius Kelly, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. Michael Mansour was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Damien's victory bumped their record up to 10-11-1. As for Chino Hills, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-10-1 record this season.

Damien will have a chance to go back-to-back against Chino Hills: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
