Preview: Jones Fightin' Tigers vs. Edgewater Eagles

The Jones Fightin' Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Edgewater Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Jones comes in on seven and Edgewater on 11.

Jones had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They put the hurt on Oviedo with a sharp 33-7 win on Friday. Considering Jones has won seven matchups by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Jones got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jerrian Parker out in front who rushed for 169 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.9 yards per carry. Parker has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Trever Jackson, who rushed for 69 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries.

Meanwhile, Edgewater put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past First Coast 37-6 at home. Edgewater pushed the score to 37-0 by the end of the third, a deficit First Coast cut but never quite recovered from.

Edgewater can attribute much of their success to Kaden Shields-Dutton, who rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries. Shields-Dutton is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last six games he's played. Sir Semaj Fleming was in the mix as well, providing Edgewater with two touchdowns.

Jones pushed their record up to 8-3 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 37.33 points. As for Edgewater, their victory bumped their record up to 11-0.

Things could have been worse for Jones, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 31-14 loss to Edgewater in their previous matchup back in September. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Edgewater's Fleming, who rushed for 46 yards and three touchdowns. Now that Jones knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
