Baseball Game Preview: Wahlert Golden Eagles vs. Waterloo West Wahawks

Wahlert has gone a perfect 10-0 against Waterloo West recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Golden Eagles will take on the Wahawks at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Wahlert has six straight wins, Waterloo West has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Saturday, Wahlert sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Davenport North. The three-run effort marked the Golden Eagles' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Meanwhile, Waterloo West came up short against Prairie on Friday and fell 9-4.

Wahlert pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Waterloo West, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.

Wahlert beat Waterloo West 7-2 when the teams last played back in June of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
