Recap: Deep Run Wildcats vs. Thomas Dale Knights
After flying high against the Thomas Jefferson Vikings last Friday, the Deep Run Wildcats came back down to earth. Deep Run took a serious blow against Thomas Dale on Tuesday, falling 84-35. While losing is never fun, Deep Run can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while Thomas Dale is ranked first).
Thomas Dale found their leader in underclassman Syvannah Dawson, who shot 5-for-8 from long range and almost dropped a triple-double on 31 points, nine assists, and nine steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dawson has scored all season. Nylah Wilson was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Deep Run's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Thomas Dale, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 13-0.
Deep Run will head out on the road to take on Glen Allen at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Thomas Dale, they will be playing in front of their home fans against John Marshall at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. John Marshall is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
