Softball Game Preview: Radford Bobcats vs. Floyd County Buffaloes

Radford hasn't had much luck against Floyd County recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Bobcats will square off against the Buffaloes at 5:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Radford is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Monday. They came up short against George Wythe, falling 10-0.

Meanwhile, Floyd County has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.14 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Thursday. They lost 10-4 to Glenvar. The loss was the Buffaloes' first of the season.

Ava DeJesus was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Kyra Vaughn was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Radford's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Floyd County, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.

Radford was able to grind out a solid victory over Floyd County in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bobcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
