Basketball Recap: Kathleen Red Devils vs. Bartow Yellow Jackets
After flying high against McLaughlin on Wednesday, Kathleen came back down to earth. The Red Devils were beaten by the Bartow Yellow Jackets 64-32 on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Yellow Jackets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 54-7 back in December of 2025.
Jade GREIR and Kaydence Knight certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. GREIR posted 13 points, while Knight earned 11 points.
Bartow found their leader in freshman Queen Burch, who dropped a double-double with 25 points and 17 boards. That makes it five consecutive games in which Burch has scored at least a third of the Yellow Jackets' points. Another player making a difference was Serenity Turene, who scored 14 points.
Kathleen's defeat dropped their record down to 2-20. As for Bartow, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-10 record this season.
Kathleen will square off against Sebring at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Bartow, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 56-35 loss against Lake Wales on the 30th.
