Softball Recap: Archer School for Girls Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Archer School for Girls dropped their record down to 9-3 on Monday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They lost 17-1 to the Viewpoint Patriots. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Panthers couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Viewpoint, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 14-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games.

For Viewpoint's part, Emjay Peck was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. Peck has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carly Nelson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Skylar Meehan was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Archer School for Girls will venture away from home to face off against Crossroads at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers are facing the Roadrunners at the right time seeing as the Roadrunners are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Viewpoint, they will head out to challenge Brentwood School at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.18 runs per game on average), something the Patriots will no doubt try to take advantage of.
