Softball Recap: Headland's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

Headland has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging four runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Thursday. They came up short against the Houston Academy Raiders, falling 11-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Rams were not able to get on the board.

Headland saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addison Grantham, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple. That triple was Grantham's first of the season.

The loss snapped Headland's winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 5-1 record. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs over those games. As for Houston Academy, their win was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0.

Looking ahead, Headland will host Carroll at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Headland is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season. As for Houston Academy, they will square off against Eufaula at 4:30 p.m. on March 6th.
