League recap: Denmark-Olar climbs in standings with win

Denmark-Olar was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in A Region V. The Vikings beat Bethune-Bowman 34-12 earlier in the week.

Estill took down Branchville 36-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Denmark-Olar's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Lindsey Johnson threw for 57 and one touchdown and Kennth Butler had 40 yards receiving. On the ground Johnson chipped in 177 yards. Xavier Reid helped Denmark-Olar's passing attack out by catching one ball for 12 yards.

Thanks to the talents of Solomon McCormick and Brandon Jordan Allendale-Fairfax has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. McCormick leads the league in passing with 478 yards, while Jordan has rushed for 664 yards this season. Whale Branch's Devonta Delaney leads the league in receiving yards with 470 on 16 catches.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Allendale-Fairfax takes on second place Estill. The Tigers last week, while the Fighting Gators defeated the Yellowjackets.

There should be lots of points scored when Allendale-Fairfax and Estill face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Eddie Ford's team comes in having scored 284 this season, while J.C Threatt's team has scored 98.

The Fighting Gators led the league in scoring this week after putting up 36 points on Branchville.
