Baseball Game Preview: Lake View Wild Gators vs. Latta Vikings

The Lake View Wild Gators will venture away from home to take on the Latta Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lake View's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Latta's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Monday, Lake View was able to grind out a solid win over Johnsonville, taking the game 6-1.

Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Latta rose to the challenge on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Wild Gators with a sharp 8-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.

Seth Minshew made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Logan Byrd, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

Latta has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Lake View, their victory bumped their record up to 15-6.

Lake View might still be hurting after the 8-2 loss they got from Latta when the teams last played on Saturday. Can the Wild Gators avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
