Baseball Recap: Fayette County Gets the Win

Fayette County's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the South Lamar Stallions a 7-0 shutout. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Stallions recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Not much got past Lukas Driver, who gave up just two hits and racked up 15 Ks to keep South Lamar off the board. Those 15 strikeouts gave Driver a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Parker Lindsey was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Christian Armstrong, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Fayette County's victory bumped their record up to 8-11. As for South Lamar, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fayette County will venture away from home to square off against Gordo at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for South Lamar, they will head out to challenge Sulligent at 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
