Softball Game Preview: Apache Junction Prospectors vs. Payson Longhorns

The Apache Junction Prospectors will head out to face off against the Payson Longhorns at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Apache Junction comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Apache Junction came up short against Benson on Monday, falling 26-5.

Meanwhile, Payson lost 17-8 to Northwest Christian on Thursday. The Longhorns have struggled against the Crusaders recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Holdyn Waterman was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Caelee Boyle was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Payson's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-5. As for Apache Junction, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.

Apache Junction couldn't quite get it done against Payson when the teams last played back in March of 2022 as they fell 10-7. Can Apache Junction avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
