Basketball Recap: Reed Raiders vs. Spanish Springs Cougars
Reed and Spanish Springs squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Reed had to settle for second. They were dealt a 71-34 defeat at the hands of the Spanish Springs Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while the Cougars are ranked fifth).
Spanish Springs' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayden Acosta, who went 6 of 9 en route to 16 points. Acosta continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevor Landreth, who went 6 for 9 to rack up 12 points in addition to five boards and three steals.
