Game recap

A big 35-point first quarter helped carry Valor Christian (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) to a 42-0 victory over Heritage (Littleton, Colo.) on Saturday.

The Eagles scored on a passing touchdown, a touchdown run, a rushing touchdown, a Luke Del Rio touchdown pass to Christian McCaffrey and a touchdown run in the quarter.

The lead that Valor Christian took on a passing touchdown with 10:00 remaining in the first quarter stood up for the duration of the game, as neither team managed to score in the second half.

The the Eagles raced to 35 in the first quarter alone and never looked back.

Cameron Gray played well for the Highlands Ranch school in the victory. The senior running back ran for one touchdown. He has now scored two touchdowns on the season.

The defeat comes as a step back for Heritage, which notched a 24-16 victory over Fruita Monument in its previous outing. The win was a nice bounce back for the Eagles, which lost to Bingham last week, 21-20. The victory snapped Valor Christian's 2-game losing streak.

Valor Christian (1-2) goes up against Legend in a non-conference game matchup next week, while Heritage (1-2) locks horns with Doherty in a 5A Pioneer game.
