Basketball Recap: Middlesex Takes a Loss

If Middlesex was riding high fresh off their 68-42 takedown of Surry County last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Middlesex Chargers were outmatched by the Altavista Colonels and fell 76-38. The match marked the Chargers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

The defeat snapped Middlesex's winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 6-2 record. As for Altavista, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-2.

Middlesex will head out to square off against Mathews at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mathews is on a three-game streak of home wins, Middlesex a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Altavista, they will welcome Auburn at 10:30 a.m. on Friday.
