Design Tech is a perfect 8-0 against Latino College Preparatory Academy since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Dragons will head out on the road to challenge the Golden Eagles at 3:00 p.m. Design Tech has given up an average of 9 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
University hit Design Tech with a nine-run first inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Dragons lost 19-5 to the Red Devils. The Dragons' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Angelica Soto made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Another player making a difference was Caitlin Edwards, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Latino College Preparatory Academy waltzed into their game on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Lions a 17-0 shutout. The Golden Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by six runs or more this season.
YADIRA ADAME was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Latino College Preparatory Academy got a massive performance out of ANDREA SANCHEZ, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. YULISSA HERNANDEZ also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Latino College Preparatory Academy's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.7 runs over those games. As for Design Tech, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Design Tech hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .404. However, it's not like Latino College Preparatory Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .487. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Design Tech's way against Latino College Preparatory Academy in their previous matchup back in March, as Design Tech made off with a 15-4 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dragons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
